On Saturday the 16th at 6:20 in the morning, forty-four tired, but enthusiastic, Gladbrook-Reinbeck students boarded a school bus on its way to district speech in Laporte City. A mime piece entitled “Sports Store After Dark” will go onto state performed by Cydney Rose, Jenny Schildroth, Emily Johnson, Moriah Hoeppner, and Jenna Hoffman. There is also one ensemble acting piece advancing, performed by Breanna Schlichtmann and Kayla Fobian. One ensemble acting piece. There were also three different Improv groups to receive I’s at districts. First was the all male group of Joey Linder, Tyler Wrage, and Braden Heithoff. Next was the comedy duo of Alyssa Christopher and Sadie Walton. Last to perform of G-R speech team was the improv group of Rebecca Franksain, Jenny Schildroth, and Alyona Strohbehn who will also be advancing onto state. All forty-one of these students will spend the next two weeks getting ready for state. This year, Gladbrook-Reinbeck will be performing at Dubuque Senior High School on February 2nd. The goal is to have the acts good enough to receive a rating of straight I’s, but if the performance is good enough, it could be recommended for All State. Maybe this year is the year that G-R sends an act all the way!
