NHS Tapping by Nathan Swaim There is a special NHS event on February 21st. The Dorothy Heiberger Chapter of National Honor Society is tapping new students into their society. It is a great honor for these hard working students. These prestigious students must hold a 3.25 cumulative GPA. The tapping ceremony will be at 3:10 in the new gym at the GMG High School. It is open to the public. Come and watch as these students have a great honor bestowed upon them.
GMG vs East Marshall Girl’s Basketball By : Luke Petty The GMG Wolverines faced off against the Mustangs from East Marshall on Monday, February 4th. They knew the game was going to be a tough game from the start. East Marshall had a 9 point lead at halftime and continued to roll on to win 48-32. The GMG Wolverines played hard, but it wasn’t enough. Autumn Rosacker was the leading scorer with 8 points. Mikaella Koster and Olivia Barritt both chipped in 7 points. Autumn Rosacker also led the team with rebounds with 8.
Senior Citizens’ Fun Night BY Scott Rockne GMG Schools is having a Senior Citizens Fun Night. It is the Valentine edition, so you have to wear red. This event is located at the GMG High School. This fun event will be held Friday, February 15, at 6:30pm - 9:00pm. The activities include: GMG speech students, vocal or band presentations, as well as, bingo or cards. This event is sponsored by the GMG National Honor Society. There will be delicious munchies provided for you. All you need to bring is yourself!
GMG Boys Struggle Against Don Bosco By: Noah Scheidel On Saturday, February 9, the GMG Wolverine boys’ basketball team faced off against the Don Bosco Dons in Gilbertville. Early in the game, the Dons pulled ahead. The score at half-time was GMG-22, Don Bosco-27. The scoring trend stayed the same in the second half. The final score was GMG-42, Don Bosco-56. The high scorers for GMG were Chad Plaehn, a junior, and Bridger Claussen, a sophomore, who both shot 10 points for the Wolverines. Blake Warren, a senior, brought down the most rebounds with 6 rebounds. The Wolverines’ record after this game is 11 wins and 10 losses. The Wolverines also played Monday, February 11 against Cedar Valley Christian, and they will begin district play on Thursday, in Colo. We wish them great success during tournament play.
GMG Boys V.S. East Marshall By: Tyler Thurston On Monday, February 4th, the GMG Wolverines and the East Marshall Mustangs collided in an intense basketball game. These two teams were fighting for points stalemating at every quarter. They kept playing at this high paced speed the whole game, then GMG made a shot and were ahead by two with 10 seconds left. East Marshall, fought for their last chance to continue the game, and they made the buzzer beater shot, and we went into overtime. These two teams continued fighting to get an inch ahead of each other, but they both made two each time and just when there was 1 second left, Brock Fisher made the buzzer beater and GMG capturing the victory with a score 65 to 63. What an exciting game!
High School Pops Concert by Lexie Curry On Monday 18, 2013 GMG High School is having a Pops Concert. Where at you you may wonder! It’s at the GMG JR/High School in the old gym. This musical event will begin at 7 PM. There will be some dynamic solo’s from the high school choir. The Band will have some solo’s as well. Mrs. Sheryl Mullikin and Mr. Dan Lastovka are doing an amazing job pulling this all together. Come to the school and enjoy an amazing evening of sensational musicians!
