GMG Boys Triumph Over the Royals By: Noah Scheidel On Friday, January 25, the GMG Wolverine boys basketball team faced off agains the Colo-Nesco Royals in Colo. Both teams played very well, but the Wolverines pulled ahead and took the lead. The final score was Wolverines: 53 and Royals: 46. Brock Fisher led the Wolverines scoring a high of 13 points. Brock also led the team in rebounds with 8 rebounds. The Wolverines have been having a very good season with a record of 9 wins and 7 losses. GMG has become a team to be reckoned with this season. The Wolverines will face off against the North Tama Redhawks on Tuesday, January 29.
Carnation Fundraiser By Nathan Swaim On the 14th of February the GMG students should have purchased carnations for their friends and/or loved ones. They were priced at $2. They came in three colors. They were red, white, or pink. The students and the teachers also participated in a raffle, where they could pay $1 and win a $25 gift certificate to That Place. Hopefully, the students and teachers participated in this fun event. The proceeds will go to the GMG Student Council!
State Speech Attendees By Tyler Thurston On January 19, the GMG Speech Team performed in District Competition at Pella High School. GMG had four groups that received a 1 rating which qualifies them for State. The State Contest will be held at Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School on February 2. Those attending state will be as follows: the Radio News Group Number 1 consisted of Dillon Slingluff, Logan Burt, Luke Wrage, Ella Gruen, Matt Smith & Olivia Barritt. The Radio News Group Number 2 consisted of Olivia Welton, Peyton Mannan, Codi Groth, Allison Stegmann, Bryce Newcomb, Noah Thurston, & Summer Langenbau. The people who participated in the Improvisation Group are Mackenzie Burt, Jennifer Borota, Caitlin Appelgate, & Abbie Duden. The Ensemble Acting group included Mackenzie Burt, Jennifer Borota, & Caitlin Appelgate. All of these people have worked hard for their place in State, so come support them if you can. Break a leg!
