Rev. Bill Poland to become Assistant to the Bishop for Administration

Bishop Julius Calvin Trimble has announced the assignment of Rev. William W. Poland as the incoming Assistant to the Bishop for Administration. Rev. Poland, Conference Superintendent of the South Central District will succeed the Rev. Dr. J. Robert Burkhart who will retire at Annual Conference in June 2013. Rev. Poland will have completed seven years as Conference Superintendent, serving the Dubuque and South Central Districts. A graduate of UDTS (University of Dubuque Theological School), Bill served as Dean of the Appointive Cabinet in 2010. “Bill Poland loves Jesus, his family and The United Methodist Church,” Bishop Trimble said. “He has the knowledge of the church and our discipline, the respect of his colleagues and the enthusiasm needed for addressing needed details related to equipping local churches by assisting the Bishop with administrative matters. He will work well with Rev. Karen Nichols Dungan, Assistant to the Bishop for Connectional Ministries, who has oversight for program and mission areas.” Bill and his wife, Judy, were delegates to the World Methodist Conference in South Africa in 2011. Bill serves along with Bishop Trimble and Norma Morrison as voting members of the World Methodist Council which will be meeting in England in the fall of 2013. Bill and Judy are parents and grandparents.
