“Wreaths Across America” places a beautiful evergreen wreath with a large red inscribed bow laid on the gravesites of our fallen veterans. It started in 1992 when the Worchester Wreath Co asked for volunteers and donations to put a wreath on the then over 12,000 graves in Arlington National Cemetery. School children and family members volunteer each year and now there will be 24,000 wreaths placed to honor those resting there. We encourage our volunteers to take time to read the names, fix the wreath, stand back and remember as so many of those buried here have no one to remember them. This year, Mary Wegner, wife of Keith Wegner and a veteran in her own right, donated a wreath to be placed at the Memorial Stone at the All Veterans Memorial. On Tuesday, Carroll Wegner and Dick Denbow, both Past Department Commanders, accepted the gift and were honored to place the wreath in honor of all our veterans. We thank her for her thoughtfulness and are proud to recognize our veterans in this special way. “In life, they honored their country, in death, their country honors them.
