Members of the Gladbrook American Legion Auxiliary spent Monday morning, Nov. 26th making popcorn balls for the Santa Sacks. Having popcorn balls in the Gladbrook Santa Sacks has been a tradition that stretches around 70 years. We would like to thank the Lincoln Savings Bank for donating the popcorn and oil. Santa Sacks are a project of the Gladbrook Commercial Club. Included in each sack besides the popcorn balls are M&Ms, candy canes, apples donated by the Grundy Memorial Hospital, peanuts donated by Iowa Builders, and a theater buck. The Gladbrook Women’s Club does the sacking! The Gladbrook Young Women with the help of Santa Claus pass the sacks out to the kids during the tree lighiting. All total 400 sacks are given out to the children, seniors, and Westbrook Acres residents. Auxiliary members helping make the popcorn balls were: In front (l-r), Marilyn Carstensen, Louise Ulch, Jeanne Paustian. Back (l-r), Jolene Denbow, Sue Koster, Linda Randolph, and Joyce Bern.
