G-R Drama Department “Once In A Lifetime”

If you did not attend the Gladbrook-Reinbeck fall play this year, you really missed out. Once In A Lifetime proved to be funny and entertaining all at the same time. Even though the play stretched to two and a half hours, the high school cast made it more than tolerable. Being a stage help in the play this year was also a joy. The cast was not only awesome on stage, but off stage they’re still wonderful. They worked so hard on this play in the morning before school, and every night after school as well. There was so much dedication and hard work put into this play, and they definitely pulled it off. Alyona Strohbehn was a part of this fall’s play. Since the cast was so small, and there were so many parts in the play, Alyona, as well as a few others, had to play two parts in the play. “We have a really great cast,” commented Alyona, “Everybody worked hard and were good troops in the morning practices. Overall we had a lot of fun.” Both nights, the crowds seemed to turn out pretty well, filled with parents and friends of the cast. Hearing their laughs from backstage just showed how fantastic this play turned out to be. Miss Ellen Wagner was, of course, the director of this play. “Honestly, I thought it was one of our most polished plays,” Ellen said, “The acting came so far from the beginning of the rehearsal process to the final product. I am still learning what type of show I need to pick to get people in the door—I would love nothing more than to pack the auditorium for every single show—but all of the students involved worked very hard and put forth a quality piece of theater.”
