G-R Cross Country-By Coach Andy McQuillen

NICL Conference Meet 10-15-12 Due to the weather conditions on Saturday, October 13, the NICL Cross Country Meet was rescheduled to Monday, October 15. The weather was nearly perfect on the rescheduled date-no wind, no rain, and perfect temperatures for running! We ran extremely well as a team for the boys and girls. The girls team was led by Nicole Adair and closely followed by Meg Edler. Hannah Martin and Kelsey Schwartz ran their best races of the year thus far. They really finished strong in a very competitive NICL race. As a team, the girls finished 12th in the conference. Considering the adversity this group has faced this year with injuries and illness, this was a great way to finish the conference season. Tyler Bovy led the boys with a 35th place finish. Tyler has improved throughout the season and really shown that he competes at the varsity level. Vasya Strohbehn was 15th in the JV boys race. Cole Goos finished 55th overall in the JV race.

State Qualifying Meet (Marshalltown) 10-18-12 All of our kids ran well considering the conditions. The Marshalltown is a tougher course with wet, windy conditions. But I thought we ran some of our best races of the year. This is all I could ask for. For the girls team, I was really happy for them. They faced adversity all year with injuries, so for us to finish on a positive note was a major feat. Nicole Adair and Meg Edler did a nice job of leading the pack for us. But the rest of the team also ran extremely well. The girls finished 12th out of 15 teams. Tyler Bovy ran a great race (37th place). He also plays football, so his practice time is limited. Vasya and Cole ran well in a tough situation (91st and 118th places). I credit our boys for persevering and continuing to work hard everyday. Overall, we ended the season on a positive note. We Will work in the off-season to improve for next season and hopefully set our goals to run in Fort Dodge.
