Tama County Supervisors Larry Vest and Kendall Jordan met Monday morning, October 1, 2012, with Supervisor Dan Wilkens absent. Vest stated Highway D65 in the northern part of the county has recently had the blacktopping completed and now they are working on the shoulders. The east bound should is now nearly completed. Work on westbound will follow. Susan Jones, Assistant to the County Engineer presented a permit for T.I.P. Rural Electric Coop out of Brooklyn to do work in Columbia Township. This will be installing a 3-phase electrical underground in conduit under 360th Street. Terry Johnson with Genesis Corporation (old County Home) was present to give an update on this operation. Johnson stated they had a census of twenty six. Some of these are from Marshall County, three from Boone, etc. This is a forty bed facility and needs to be filled. Johnson stated Genesis lost $56,000 last year and is looking for a way to increase the income. Johnson stated they are working on this, but it is hard to come up with a solution. There goal is to move people out as soon as convenient for the person into apartments etc. Claims for the past week approved came to $113,160.81
