Garwin Library News

September 6, 2012
Northern-Sun Print
Summer has really flown by, the park music finished, the kids are back at school and the library really misses them. We will change back to our winter hours of 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 12. Mondays and Fridays will stay 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays and Saturdays will stay 8 a.m. till noon. New movies are War Horse, Decedents, Tangled, and Cars 2 and many new books. We have George R. R. Martin’s “A Song of Fire and Ice” series. Going back in time a bit here I read the book “Follow the River” it was published in 1981 but fantastically written by James Alexander Thom. It is based on the true story of a 23-year-old pregnant woman who in 1755 was captured by the Shawnee, escaped and walked 1,000 miles home by following the Ohio River. That may not sound that great but you would have to read it to believe it. Library Director Lola Slingluff
