Ten members met at the home of Judy Beane. Vice President Vivian LeVier opened the meeting. The minutes of the July meeting were read and accepted. No old business and no new business. For roll call Vivian asked if you go to the State Fair and what do you like most. Vivian closed the meeting with a cute saying-”Brain cells come and go but fat cells remain forever. She then turned it over to Darlene Bovenmyer for the program. Darlene read several short pieces from the book entitled “Crackers for Your Soup” by Roger Polt. The ones she read were, “The Bright Light”, “Love, the many splendor things”, “Wonder why some people are paranoid”, “Jolene, a woman in a small town”, “All quotes from 11 year old exams”, “Teens and the collection plate”, and “Headlines”. Those made us all laugh. Then Darlene had us make earrings out of tiny paper clips. Judy served a delicious dessert called Frozen Rainbow Delight, with mixed nuts, tea, and lemonade. Next meeting will be September 11 at Shirley Lewis’. Kathy Thurston has roll call and program by Pat Ambler.
