July 27, 2012
Northern-Sun Print
Forty-six senior citizens enjoyed a picnic with fried chicken, potato salad, baked beans, brownies and ice cream at the Memorial Building on Friday, July 13th hosted by the Auxiliary. The tables were decorated with child-size picnic baskets, dishes and ants crawling down the center of the tables. Community Service Chairman Karen Pieper welcomed everyone and read a poem entitled “Picnic”. Chaplain Joyce Swangel gave the prayer. Sugar & Spice, Joan Greufe and Phil Gould of Marshal County provided the entertainment. They sang several country songs along with some well recognized standard tunes. After playing a few requests, they ended with a couple of gospel songs. During the program everyone sang “Happy Birthday” to Dorothy Wiese who is celebrating her 85th birthday on Saturday. Shirley McCright and Cathy Barnes also had birthdays. Joyce Swangel thanked everyone for coming and read a poem entitled “Picnics for Everyone”. Senior Citizens will not meet in August but Chapel Church will be the hosts on Friday, September 14th at 11:30 a.m.
