GMG Girls Win Bear Classic Relays By: Jer Ridout

Congratulations to the GMG girls track team and Coach Jon Read,who captured the win at another track meet, on Friday, April 22nd! The event was held in Brooklyn. Yes, our ladies won the whole meet. The field events took place. Caitlin Appelgate was outstanding in the high jump. She landed a first place, and she also broke the school record. Congratulations, Caitlin. Melody Beane earned herself 6th place in the high jump, and Melody Beane placed 6th for the long jump. In the girls discus throw, Autumn Rosacker placed 3rd. In the 400 meter dash Ella Gruen ran 2nd place, while Madi VanGundy placed 4th. For the 1500 meter run, Elee Edwards earned 3rd place, while Abby Kulhavy spotted 5th. Elee & Abby also landed 2nd & 3rd place in the 3000 meter run. Sara Hinson placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash. In the 100 and the 400 meter hurdles, Emily Havelka placed first! Way to go, ladies! Our relay teams really hit the track too! Our 4x100 shuttle hurdle team landed in first place. This team consists of Heather Brittenham, Mikaella Koster, Sara Hinson, and Emily Havelka. Our 4x100 relay team also came in first place. Those runners were Mikaella Koster, Caitlin Appelgate, Melody Beane, and Sara Hinson. The 4x200 relay team of Emily Havelka, Caitlin Appelgate, Mikaella Koster and Sara Hinson placed 3rd in the event. The 4x400 Meter Relay team placed 3rd. That team consisted of Madisun VanGundy, Mackenzie Burt, Olivia Barritt, and Ella Gruen. Coming in second place was the 4x800 meter relay consisting of Mackenzie Burt, Ella Gruen, Codi Groth, and Caitlin Appelgate. Landing in fifth place in the 800 Sprint Medley were Melody Beane, Madisun VanGundy, Mackenzie Burt, and Ella Gruen. Also, placing in the Bear’s Classic was the girls distance medley. They placed fifth. We are so proud of our GMG girls! They are doing a tremendous job in track.
