Ambassador for Gladbrook

April 6, 2012
Northern-Sun Print
Last year’s reigning Corn Cob Queen is getting closer to passing on the crown this coming June but until then she continues to promote Gladbrook and our annual Corn Carnival celebration. Rose Russell, the 2011 Corn Cob Queen, made an appearance at the Iowa Potluck at Sunflower Resort in Surprise, Arizona last month. Over 140 Iowans were in attendance. Rose wore her crown and sash while helping to serve fried chicken to everyone. She handed out Matchstick Marvel Museum brochures encouraging all to visit Gladbrook. She also invited all in attendance to bring their friends and family to the 90th Corn Carnival this coming June. While Rose’s reign will soon be coming to an end, the Corn Cob Queen committee is now taking nominations for this year’s voting. If you have nominations of community members that will continue our great tradition of promoting Gladbrook events as the next Corn Cob Queen, please leave names with Katie at Hometown Foods or with Jeanne at Peace Church. Thank you, Rose, for helping promote Gladbrook!
