Gladbrook Senior Citizens Dinner

March 16, 2012
Northern-Sun Print
The first Gladbrook Senior Citizen luncheon of 2012 was held March 9, at the Methodist Church in Fellowship Hall.  A Lenton/St. Patrick’s themed meal of Cream Cheese potato soup, Tuna Bumstead on a Chiabatta bun, lime pear salad and lime sherbet with a Shamrock sugar cookie was served to 37 seniors and 2 guests.  The meal was planned and lovingly prepared by United Methodist Women members:  Carol Mead, Joyce Bruene, Karen Pieper, Diane Mussig, RoseMary McKinney, Marcy Knaack and June Klinefelter.  Tables were brightly decorated for spring and St. Patrick’s Day by able assistants Lucy DeWitt and Richard Klinefelter. Guest speaker was Wendy Knapp from Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa.  She told how EVERYTHING we donate to Goodwill is sold in some form to raise funds to support their service to disabled and disadvantaged adults and children that will assist these persons in reaching their highest level of independence.  Wendy shared some success stories with us and since she is an avid Goodwill shopper, some of her very valuable finds.
