Shirley Young was hostess to tweleve members of the Alpha Study Club on Tuesday, February 14, in the Peace Church social hall. The 1:30 p.m. meeting was opened by President Shirley Young with a reading of “ A Friend I Can Count On” by Joanna Fuchs. Roll was called. The secretary’s report was approved as read. Treasurer Pro-Tem Karen Handorf needs more information and will update her report at the next meeting. Until then, our total balance was reported to be $252.35. A letter was read from the G-R After Prom Committee. Our budgeted amount of $25.00will be sent. The library committee reported that flowers had been sent to the library as a thank you to the librarians and for the library patrons to enjoy. Our next meeting will be Tuesday, February 28 at Gifts of Grace. Pauline Flamme reviewed Betty White’s book “If You Ask Me (and of course you won’t)”. Seven-time Emmy winner Betty’s wit and wisdom take center stage as she tackles topics like friendship, romantic love, aging, television, fans, love for animals, and the brave new world of celebrity. Drawing from a lifetime of lessons learned, “If You Ask Me” mixes her toughtful observations with humorous stories from a seven-decade career in Hollywood. Shirley closed the meeting by reading another Joanna Fuchs’ poem entitled “Because You Are My Friend”. Pat Clausen entertained the group with a reading “Sr. Citizens-This Is Us”. Members then enjoyed cupcakes, candy, nuts, punch, and coffee served from a beautifully decorated Valentine table. Jean Livingston, Secretary Pro-Tem
