“Rebels Come Back Against Cougars” Winter finally arrived on January 12, 2012, as the Rebels fought the wind as we traveled north to Wellsburg to take on the AGWSR Cougars. The Rebels found out early that we were to have our hands full as we faced a very good and bigger team. Not accustomed to falling behind, the Rebels were just that as we got behind 9-5 after the first quarter. Both teams traded baskets throughout much of the second quarter as the Rebels hit three-3 pointers to close the gap by 21-19.  Coming out for the third quarter the Rebels were determined to keep it close and make the adjustments. The third quarter came  to a close with a 26-22 deficit. The Rebels started the fourth quarter with a mission to shut down their inside game while trying to get the lead for the first time. Defense and free throws saw the Rebels go ahead and take an exciting 36-31 comeback win over the Cougars. Scoring in the win were the following Rebels: Tyler Pierce-3 pts., Parker Bown-2 pts., Erik Knaack-2 pts., Joe Smoldt-25 pts., Matt Roeding-4 pts.
