This Week at the Gladbrook Theater

January 13, 2012
Northern-Sun Print
It’s time for the last movie at the Gladbrook Theater. The last 35mm film movie that is! “Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol” starts on Fri. Jan. 13. Tom Cruise stars in the action-packed spy adventure. Blamed for the terrorist bombing of the Kremlin, Operative Ethan Hunt is disavowed along with the rest of the agency when the President initiates “Ghost Protocol”. Left without any resources or backup, Ethan must find a way to clear his agency’s name and prevent another attack. To complicate matters further, Ethan is forced to embark on this mission with a team of fellow IMF fugitives whose personal motives he does not fully know. The movie features many famous landmarks from around the world and an international cast of actors. Take a vacation in your seat at the Gladbrook Theater and see the world the inexpensive way! Critics and movie goers are claiming this as the best Mission Impossible movie yet! The theater will be closed Thursday, January 19 through Thursday, January 26. The first few days will be filled with preparing things for the installation of the digital projector. We also have some painting that needs to be done. Volunteers are needed to paint the hallway and stairwells. If you would like to help with something, please give me a call, 641-473-2410. On Monday, January 23 the technicians will be here to disassemble the old projector to remove it from the projection room. We will need volunteers to help carry it out of the projection room and then carry the new in to be installed. These items are very heavy so if you can help with the heavy lifting let me know. By Wednesday, January 25 we will be training on the new digital projector and 3D system. Our first movie on the new system will be a 3D showing of “The Adventures of TinTin”. We will be doing a test run on Thursday evening, January 26. If you have donated to this project you are especially invited to attend if you wish to. We’ll start at 7:00 pm. Hope to see everyone at the last 35mm film movie, another step in the history of Gladbrook! Untill next week, see you at the movies!
