Tama County Supervisors met Monday morning, December 12, 2011, in regular session with Supervisor Dan Wilkens absent. County Engineer Lyle Brehm told supervisors the road department had been busy preparing all equipment for the winter problems if any arise. Brehm stated otherwise they had nothing much going on. A Resolution was passed to make a change to the Industrial Tax Program. This change would read as follows: The Tama County Industrial and COMMERCIAL tax exemption program is specifically created for LARGE SCALE projejcts occuring in un-incorporated areas of Tama County. The Tama County Industrial and Commercial tax exemption program was established by the Tama County Board of Supervisosrs to HELP LOWER THE FINANCIAL RISK AND MAXIMIZE THE POTENTIAL FOR FINANCIAL SUCCESS FOR STAKEHOLDERS WITH NEW DEVELOPMENT THAT SPUR RESPONSIBLE CAPITAL INVESTMENT AND JOB CREATION. The capitals indicate the changes made. Also approved was an application for Industrial Tax Exemption for Mid Iowa Cooperative who have forty acres of ground on Highway E29 and will be rebuilding their grain storage, fertilizer products plant in this location. This came about from the storm last July where their present business was badly damaged in the storm. The actual value added to the industrial real estate for the reasosns specirfied is eligible to receive a full exemption from taxation for a period of three years. If the property ceases to be classified as industrial real estate, the exemption for the value added shall not be allowed for the subsequent assessment years. If the applicant does not comply with all of the conditions then all taxes are ddue retroactive to the start of the business. If the property changes ownership and does not comply with the requirements, then all taxes will be due. The amount of actural value added which is eligible to be exempt from taxation begins when all requirements are met and shall be as follows.First year 100%, second year 100 % and third year 100%. There will be six jobs created, Office Administrator, Grain Elevator Supervisor, Grain Elevator Operator and two Semi Truck drivers. Susan Jones presented a contract for fuel for the 2012 year for the county. This is basically the same as it was for the 2011 year. Claims approved for last weeks bills came to $102,082.54.
