Claire Reinhard attended the National 4H Congress, “Becoming a Catalyst for Change,” held Nov 25-29 in Atlanta, GA.  She was one of 21 4Hers selected through an interview process to represent the state of Iowa.  Being selected as a Congress delegate is one of the highest honors in Iowa 4H, given to those who have demonstrated exceptional skills in leadership, citizenship, and overall achievement.  In addition to this recognition of the delegates’ past 4H accomplishments and contributions, it is an educational opportunity to further develop leadership and citizenship skills.  Participants came from 48 of the 50 states- including delegates from Alaska and Hawaii, and Puerto Rico  The first evening included a “state swap” at which delegates met others through exchanging items symbolizing their state.  Other activities included team building workshops, inspirational speakers including Miss America, an International dinner and dance, a community service project at the Atlanta Falcons’ Georgia Dome, attending church services at Ebenezer Baptist- Martin Luther King’s church, and a tour of CNN Headquarters. Claire is a 9 year member of the Gladbrook Gals and Guys 4H Club.  She would like to thank the Tama County Pork Producers and the Blue Ribbon Foundation for providing her with swap meet items.
