“Kris Kringle Kruise” is the theme for the 15th annual Gladbrook’s Christmas Tree Lighting Festivities, which will be held on Wed., Nov. 30th. The festivities will include the viewing of Gladbrook’s annual “Festival of Trees” in the City Center. These holiday activities are geared for the whole family. Santa Claus will make his annual appearance in Gladbrook on Nov. 30th as well. He will be upstairs in the City Center right in the heart of the “Festival of Trees” passing out the Santa sacks. “Jolly Old St. Nick” will be seated on the brightly decorated stage, where Santa pictures can be taken and distributed that evening for a $5.00 fee. The elves will be helping Santa if you just want to pick up your Santa Sack. You are never too old to get a sack! Beautifully decorated Christmas trees and holiday scenes of all shapes and sizes can be viewed  at the “Festival of Trees”. You will see a cascading winter water scene, a cruise ship docked on a tropical island and the inside grand staircase besides the elegant buffet, Santa & his reindeer deer taking off on Christmas Eve, a wishing well in the park,  Winnie-the-Pooh  and much more.  Christmas music will be played.  The trees are sponsored by area businesses, churches, and organizations. For the 2nd year you will also see decorated wreaths and holiday place settings all to add to the  fun and spirit of the season.   The “Festival of Trees” will be on display through December. There will be a Farmers Market in the City Center that evening. The venders will not only be selling their products but would be happy to take your holiday orders. Free hot dogs, hot cider and kettle corn will be ready to go by 5:00 p.m. on Main Street.  Christmas music will be playing to help everyone get into the holiday spirit.  Dostals Belgiums will be ready to pull an illuminated trolley for all ages to ride from 5-7 p.m.  The trolley is sponsored by Goos Implement and Great Western Bank. The kids’ prizes will be sorted according to ages. There will be five age brackets: 0-3, 4-7, 8-11, 12-14 & 15-17. Some of the prizes include dolls, stuffed animals,  action figurines, games, cars, Gladbrook Theater bucks, watches, pop, and all kinds of toys. After 6:30 just check out the poster of names at your respective age bracket table to see if you are a winner!!! 18 year-olds through adults can register for prizes including gift certificates, seasonal items, and much much more. All prizes will be at the festivities and will be picked up by the lucky winners that evening, so you must be present to win. These  prize winners will be announced over the loud speaker. Six lucky winners will each take home $25 in trade dollars. The highlight of the evening will be the caroling and  lighting of the evergreen tree at 6:30, followed by the drawing for all the prizes. This beautiful tree was donated by Kory & Lori Staff. Several Gladbrook businesses will be open for your holiday shopping. This wonderful evening of holiday fun is sponsored in part by Alliant-Energy, Hometown Foods,  Gladbrook Theater, Gladbrook Covenant Clinic, Vogel Family Funeral Homes, area  businesses and the Gladbrook Commercial Club. Come one and all as we transform Gladbrook’s Main Street into a holiday wonderland.
