Liscomb to Honor Veteran’s Denbow guest speaker

The Harry E. Powers American Legion Post  of Liscomb will celebrate Veteran’s Day on Friday, November 11 at the Liscomb Community Center.  The program will begin 10:45 a.m.  Gerald Hilsabeck will provide special music and Caleb Sheets will present a patriotic reading. Guest speaker will be Richard Denbow of Gladbrook.  Denbow served as one of the American Legion’s five national vice commanders from 2003-04.  Denbow was only the fifth Iowan to ever hold the national post.  He served as commander of the Iowa American Legion from 2001-02 as well as vice commander and membership chairman.  Denbow graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1951 and enlisted that year in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was assigned to the 6th Armored Division, 69th Engineer Battalion, and served in Germany.    Refreshments will follow the program, provided by the American Legion Auxiliary.  The public is invited to attend.
