Gladbrook Theater Dinner & A Movie Fundraiser
October 21, 2011
Join us on Sunday, October 23 for a pork loin dinner upstairs in the City Centre. The dinner will be served from 11:00 to 1:00. Free will donations will be accepted for the meal with all proceeds going to the Digital/3D update. The pork loins being served that day have been donated to the Gladbrook Theater from Swift & Company in Marshalltown. Also on the menu are wedding potatoes and a choice of salad and desserts. It should make for a wonderful Sunday dinner! Our goal will be to raise $1500 from the dinner as the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will be matching one third of what we raise up to $500.00. Raffle tickets will be available for a beautiful throw sized quilt made by Katie Grimmius and donated to the theater. The name of the winner will be drawn on Sat. Dec. 10 at the Lion’s Club Soup Day. Following the dinner, stay for the 1:30 showing of the movie “Moneyball” starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, & Phillip Seymour Hoffman. Based on a true story, Brad Pitt stars as Billy Beane, the general manager of the Oakland A’s. He has an epiphany: all of baseball’s conventional wisdom is wrong! He recruits bargain players that the scouts call flawed, but all of whom have an ability to get on base, score runs, and win games. It’s more than baseball, it’s a revolution?one that challenges old school traditions and puts Beane in the crosshairs of those who say he’s tearing out the heart and soul of the game. “Moneyball” will show Fri. Oct. 21 thru Wed. Oct. 26.
