Gladbrook Senior Citizens Dinner
October 21, 2011
The Gladbrook Senior Citizens dinner was hosted by the Gladbrook Auxiliary at the Memorial Building on Friday, October 14. The tables were decorated with pumpkins centerpieces, leaves and spider favors holding a after dinner mint. Community Service Chairman Karen Pieper welcomed everyone. She said when she taught kindergarten A stood for apple, B for boat, and C for cat. As seniors lets be a bit more realistic. The “New” Alphabet says A’s are for arthritis, B’s for bad back and C’s for chest pains, perhaps car-d-ac and so forth through the alphabet. Rev. Doner gave the prayer. Karen Pieper, Jeanne Paustian, Marcy Knaack, Kay Purvis, Becky Fish and Sandy Raum served orange salad, Lil’Cheddar Meat Balls, mashed potatoes, peas, garlic bread and pumpkin pie. After the meal everyone played a “Golf” card game. Winning first place with a score of 24 was Bob Mohr. Also winning prizes were June Johannsen, Marjorie Frey, Ila Bohnsack and Barb Walton. The next dinner will be held on Friday, November 1, wit Chapel Church hosting in the Fellowship Hall of their church.
