The Modern Homemakers met for their annual potluck lunch at 11:30 am on Tuesday, October 11 in the Carlton Brethren Fellowship Hall. Eleven members were present. After lunch President Joan Bacon called the meeting to order. Lola Dreesen suggested roll call of, “Did you take Governor Branstad’s challenge to walk at noon last Friday? and Have you planted any trees this fall?” Minutes of the September meeting were read, and the treasurer’s report was given. Names for the Christmas gift exchange were drawn, followed by election of officers for 2012. Kathy Thurston was named as President; Vivian LeVier will serve as Vice President; Janet Abbe will be Secretary/Treasurer; and Verna Stamp and Ethel Lucht will make up the Remembrance Committee. The November meeting will be at the home of Janet Abbe with Pat Ambler having roll call and Janet the program. Kathy Thurston served as hostess and also was in charge of the program.
