The Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary met on Sun., Sept. 18th, for their annual family kick-off potluck. After the table grace by Kendra Vavroch, the group enjoyed a delicious supper. The Juniors with the help of the their mothers made "colorful bat" favors for the Iowa City Ronald McDonald House. Everyone enjoyed looking at the Jrs. 2010-2011 History Book that won first place at State. They were awarded first place honors with their participation in Americanism and Music. The Gladbrook Juniors are one of the top two Jr. Units in the state. The Jrs. then renewed their vows in the Jr. Auxiliary with a candlelight initiation service conducted by Unit President & Leader Jeanne Paustian, Melissa Sienknecht, Jodi Betts, Kathy Vavroch, Betty Dahms, and Chaplain Kim Thompson. Each girl receives a "JR" membership pin fonated by Nicole Clapp. Pins were handed out Sasha Nagle, Gracie Nagle, and Maicy Moore. All the Juniors were excited for the drawing of prizes. Every time a Jr. attends a meeting or helps with a function during the year her name goes into the basket. Eleven prizes were given out. Katy Thompson received the jar of Halloween candy by guessing the closest number of pieces in the jar. The Juniors next meeting is Sat., Oct. 8th, 9:30, at Westbrook Acres with Jodi Betts and Karen Eggers in charge. They will be making fall favors for Westbrook Acres.
