Gladbrook Reinbeck’s Homecoming Happenings took place on Thursday, September 15 at the GR High School. The fun-filled event started off with the GR band playing as people began to take their seats. Mr. Charley MC’d the evening; he introduced all senior athletes in football, volleyball, cross country, and cheerleading. Throughout the program, entertainment was provided by the cheerleaders, including a choreographed routine, a “noodle” game, and leading our “future” little cheerleaders to a short routine of their own. As part of the tradition, senior parents put on a very entertaining skit. The skit was a play off of “America’s Got Talent” with the dancing Rebel moms as the winners. They also incorporated a “Minute to Win It” game involving four seniors throwing and catching volleyballs and footballs for one minute. Cross country seniors Shelby Oelschlager, Claire Reinhard, and Kelsey Martin received the game ball from Coach Olson. The cross country team ran from Reinbeck to Gladbrook with the football for the homecoming game Friday night. The evening ended with the crowning of GR’s homecoming king and queen, along with honoring our foreign exchange student, Stanko Ljubanic. The winners of the 2011 homecoming king and queen are Brady Billerbeck and Emily Stoakes.
