Local athlete to play volleyball at Central College

PELLA, IOWA—Jodie Landt, sophomore, defensive specialist, and a graduate of GMG High School is a member of the Central College volleyball team. Nine letterwinners, including five seniors, return from last season’s 20-13 club that finished tied for third in the Iowa Conference. Central has won 12 league titles in the past 15 years and earned 11 NCAA Division III playoff berths, resulting in three national championships. For the 11th straight year, the Dutch received the AVCA Team Academic Award. Central, along with Wis.-La Crosse, broke the all-time record for most consecutive years receiving the award. It’s the 12th time overall that the Dutch have captured the academic honor. Coach Kent Clayberg is in his ninth season as head coach and his 13th year on the Central volleyball staff. Clayberg has compiled a 194-88 (.688) record and is a three-time league coach of the year. Central opened its 2011 campaign at the Augustana College (Ill.) Viking Classic in Rock Island, Ill., Sept. 2-3. The Dutch won the tournament and posted a 4-0 overall mark. Maggie Snyder and Kiley Meyers were named to the all-tournament team.
