A new season is upon us and it seems earlier every year. We have been working hard at preparing for this upcoming season and now on Monday August 29 it all got going. We started fall football camp the first week in August so we were ready for some different bodies to push around. The kids and coaches have been working very hard. Now it was time to see how far along we are and how much further we can go. South Hardin was our first test. The game off slowly as it was very evident that each team was excited to be on the field for the first time against an opponent. There were some mistakes made and the execution was certainly not where you would want it to be but as the game moved into the second quarter, things calmed down and both teams kind of settled in. The Rebels settled in a little bit better and we went on to a 22-0 victory to start the year off at 1-0. The kids played a solid game and did a nice just of playing hard and doing the little things right that make a difference in a football game. The coaching staff was happy with the effort and the focus and feel very strongly that these guys will get better each time they take the field. Chase Clark had a solid first night out with 17 carries for 108 yards with a TD run and a 2 point conversion run. Jacob Peters chipped in with 60 yards and a score, Dustin Dinsdale added 54, and Bennett Peterson added 5 to round out our ground attack. Brady Kuehl was 4 of 8 for 69 yards and a TD from his quarterback spot. Wyatt Swanson, Dustin, Shawn Dugan, and Blake Kibe all had a reception with Wyatt’s also being a TD. Jacob lead the way with 6 tackles followed by Pete Meyers with 4 tackles, including a safety, and a fumble recovery. Shawn, Phillip Zimmerman, Braden Trepp, and Cameron Clark all recorded 3 tackles for the night. Tyler Bovy and Bennett added 2 stops each and Blake, Chase, Joey Linder, and Austin Lott added 1 each to finish off our tackle stats. Austin also came up with a big interception. Dirk Thesing, Noah Ohrt, Luke Holman, Logan Flamme, Logan Phillips, Shye Johnston, Bryce Ehlers, and Jeff Tscherter were also part of our season opening victory. Good work by all of you and keep getting better every day. Our next action will be Monday September 19 at home against AGWSR. We then have a Freshmen game on Thursday September 22 also at home against A-P. Monday’s game is a 6:00 kickoff and Thursday’s will follow the conclusion of the junior high games. See you on the sidelines.
