The Gladbrook Gals & Guys 4-H Club Corn Carnival 5K Race, 2-Mile Walk Competition & Kid’s Fun Run was held Saturday morning June 25th. It was a beautiful morning by the time the race started at 8 a.m. The race course is challenging with its hills and turns but was a great way to “tour” the city. The race started at the school and went through the heart of town and included a portion of the Wolf Creek Trail. 4-H club members and parents lined the route, monitored street corners and encouraged the walk/run participants. The following businesses made the race possible with their generous monetary donations which helped cover the cost of the race T-shirts and awards: Covenant Clinic-Gladbrook; Gethmann Construction Co., Inc.; Goos Implement, LTD.; John S. Livingston; Lincoln Savings Bank; The McKinney Agency. Thank you for your support. We couldn’t provide this healthy, positive community activity without our sponsor’s help. The Gladbrook Hometown Foods donated refreshments for the runners and walkers. The Cedar River Runner’s Club provided the finish line and time equipment. Sash Auction provided the club with a portable microphone. Thank you Keith and JoAnn. The Tama Co. Pork Producers provided pork certificates that the race and walk participants won through a random drawing. The race sponsors allowed over 25 prizes to deserving race participants. Thanks to all the race participants. 70 + runners and walkers participated this year ranging from age 5 to 64. Following are the race results: The 2-mile walk competition was well attended. The aim of the walk competition is to estimate how long it will take to walk the two miles. The participant who guesses closest to their actual time wins.
