Claire Reinhard receives scholarship

Claire Reinhard has received a scholarship from Iowa Girls State. The Esther Murphy Merit Award was presented to her during the closing ceremonies on June 24. The scholarship was given in memory of Esther Murphy, a 60 year member, by Auxiliary Unit #17 of Iowa City. Claire was chosen based on her active participation in Jr Auxiliary. Claire has been a 17 year member of the Junior unit and has participated in monthly meetings, poppy distribution, programs for Senior members, flag raisings, Flag Day programs, raising money for Fischer House, and more. She represented Iowa at the Freedoms Foundation Leadership Conference in Pennsylvania and received an Auxiliary Citizenship Award thru school. In addition, she has held numerous District offices, including 3rd district president, and she was State Chaplain 2009-2010. American Legion Unit #127 sponsored Claire’s attendance to Girls State.
