Sara Luehring Lenz of Cedar Falls, Iowa has attained certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc. (NBCC). Currently employed by Horizons, A Family Service Alliance, Lenz joins more than 40,000 NCC’s who are certified through NBCC. Sara Lenz recently graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with her Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling. She completed her year long internship at Allen Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, serving patients in the mental health services area. NBCC, located in Greensboro, NC, is the largest national counselor credentialing organization in the United States. National Certification promotes professional accountability and ensures that consumers’ rights are protected through the NBCC Code of Ethics. As a newly designated NCC, Lenz has fulfilled the requirements for the NCC credential. Those requirements include a graduate degree in counseling from a regionally accredited institution, supervised post-master’s counseling experience, and a passing score on the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE).
