Class of 1966

The Class of 1966 held their 45th Class Reunion June 24-25 during Gladbrook’s Corn Carnival. Festivities started on Friday night by participating in Corn Carnival’s Grand Parade. Using their Senior Prom theme, they “Returned to Bali Hai” with 22 classmates riding on a “South Sea” decorated float. On Saturday, a lovely luncheon was hosted by Jam Smith at the Fox Ridge Winery for the gals in the class. Because of too many aches and pains, the golf outing had to be cancelled for the guys. The class “Returned to Bali Hai” at the Oakwood Country Club in Conrad Saturday night for an evening of fun, good food, and visiting. A delicious meal was prepared by Donna Cooley Catering to 23 classmates and spouses. Following the meal, Master of Ceremonies, Kirby Hasselmann, introduced Jan Herink Grossnickle who wrote a poem about our class. Jan Lubbert Smith shared with the class about her award presented to her by Governor Terry Branstad. The remainder of the evening was spent playing “Panther Jeopardy” and reminiscing about the past 45 years. The reunion committee consisted of Jim Rohweder, Georgette Cold Edel, Phil Storjohann, Pat Goos Essick, and Linda Sass Schneider.
