WASHINGTON – Senator Chuck Grassley met this week on Capitol Hill with students from Gladbrook-Reinbeck Middle School during their trip to Washington, D.C. Grassley and the students discussed Grassley’s decision to seek public office and the daily responsibilities of a United States Senator.  Grassley also told the students about the availability of internships in his offices for college students. “I really enjoy meeting with young Iowans and encouraging their interest in learning more about how the federal government works.  Citizen involvement is essential to the process of representative government.  These young people will help determine the strength of our democracy in the future,” Grassley said. Grassley makes it a priority to meet with Iowans when they’re in Washington.  In addition, he has had at least one constituent meeting in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties every year since he was first elected to the Senate in 1980.  Grassley also responds to every constituent letter, email and phone call.  He communicates with Iowans on facebook, twitter and at  He is a regular guest on public affairs broadcasts statewide, where he responds to questions on any subject.
