Bengen, Rebels keep on scoring

DIKE - The fourth-highest scoring girls' basketball team in the state put up its biggest number yet. Gladbrook-Reinbeck reached triple-digits at Dike-New Hartford on Tuesday night, trampling the Wolverines 107-50 in a cross-NICL victory. Lauren Bengen matched her career high scoring output two nights after achieving it the first time, notching 33 points to lead the Rebels (9-7). G-R entered the game averaging 69.4 points per game - second-best in Class 2A behind top-ranked OA-BCIG. Paige Thompson and Jenna Roeding both had 16 points, Emily Dinsdale 14 and Emily Stoakes 12. Thopmson tallied eight assists, Stoakes had five rebounds and four steals, and Roeding added four boards. Gladbrook-Reinbeck finished 42-of-90 from the field with 11 3-pointers, forcing the winless Wolverines (0-17) into 46 turnovers. Ashley Dumler led Dike-New Hartford with 10 points and Abbie Perez had nine in the team's season-high scoring output. G-R plays at home Friday against BCLUW and Saturday versus North Tama.
