Meskwaki snags another close one with GMG GARWIN - The Meskwaki boys' basketball team only led GMG for 2 minutes on Tuesday night. But those were the last 2 minutes. Meskwaki outscored the Wolverines 26-13 in the fourth quarter to overcome a nine-point deficit, taking a 73-69 victory from GMG in Iowa Star Conference action. The Warriors (7-8, 6-5) ended a three-game losing streak behind Vincent Laseley's game-high 26 points. Dylan Ward had 20 points, Stacy YoungBear 17 and Dayton Lasley 10 to account for all 73 of Meskwaki's points. GMG (3-9, 3-8) held the lead for the entire game before turnovers led to a Meskwaki comeback in the fourth. The Warriors finally tied the game with 2 minutes to play, overtaking GMG for the second time this season. The Warriors won both Iowa Star meetings with the Wolverines by a combined six points. Brandon Lolwing scored 24 points to lead GMG in the loss. Wade Barritt had 12 points, Kyle Warren tacked on 11 points and nine rebounds, and Austin Groth chipped in nine points. GMG hosts Northeast Hamilton on Thursday in a make-up game before playing Friday at Don Bosco. Meskwaki plays Friday at Waterloo Christian.
