G-R Prom 2010 “A Night In Paris” GR Prom 2010, “A Night In Paris”, is Saturday, May 1st. Once again the Lincoln Amvet Hall will be the location for the event and the public is invited to see the decorations at an Open House in the afternoon from 2:00-5:00 PM. The students will be in Lincoln early to drive around and introductions will begin at 6:00PM; the public is invited to watch as the students enter the building for this special evening.

Volunteer Informational Meeting A volunteer informational meeting will be held at the Gladbrook Theater and Matchstick Marvels on Wednesday, May 5, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Gladbrook City Wide Garage Sales The Gladbrook City Wide Garage Sales will be held on Saturday, June 5th, 2010. Registration fee this year is $10 per sale site. Registration forms will be available at Casey’s.

Community Breakfast Garwin Revitalization Committee will sponsor a Community Breakfast, Sunday, May 2, 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at City Park Shelter House. Menu includes Belgium Waffles, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy, sausage, toast, coffee and juice. All proceeds for community projects, this is a free will offering.

Siren Testing Garwin Fire Department will test the warning sirens on the 3rd Monday of the month. This will be a year-round policy.

Crayon Corner Learning Center Spots are filling up fast so register now to enroll your child at the NEW Crayon Corner Learning Center that’s opening in June!! Spots are still available in the infant, toddler, preschool, and school age rooms! Community Barbecue Garwin 4th of July Committee will sponsor a Community Barbecue, Wednesday, May 12, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Garwin Shelter House. This is a free will offering.

Library Coffee Time Stop in and join us every Friday afternoon at the Gladbrook Public Library at 2 p. m. for coffee and conversation. We might even discuss a book or two. Bring a friend and hopefully brighten your day and ours!! Pat & Karen

Beaman Reunion The Beaman High School alumni reunion will be held on Sunday, May 30th at 12:30 at the Beaman Memorial Hall. Reservations are due to Charlotte Zern, P.O. Box 153, Beaman by May 10th, 2010.

Gladbrook Auxiliary The Auxiliary Mothers Tea will be held on Mon., May 10th, at 1:30 p.m. at the Memorial Building. Claire Reinhard will give a program on her trip to the Freedom Foundation at Valley Forge, PA. The Memorial Service and Graduation Service will be conducted and continuous years of membership awards will be presented. Hostesses are Emma Moeller, Ferne Schoel, and Pat Sievers.

Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary The Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary will be delivering poppies on Wed., May 12th, after school. Juniors meet at the Memorial Building. Treats after school by Hannah Miller and Claire Reinhard. You will be served supper after you get done with the poppies. Please bring your friends to help. Mothers are needed for drivers.

Gladbrook Cub Scout Informational Meeting Thursday, May 6th, the Gladbrook Cub Scouts, pack 327, are having a picnic and informational meeting.  Current Cub Scouts and their families will have their pack meeting and a picnic at Wolf Creek Park at 5:30.  Boys in kindergarten through 4th grade and parents are invited to join us to learn more about the Cub Scout program.  Boys interested in joining for summer instead of waiting for fall will be able to attend Cub Scout Summer Fun Days in Marshalltown, participate in family camps, a fishing derby, and other fun summer activities.  Contact Cubmaster Brenda Olson, 473-2701 if you have any questions.

Common Bonds Iowa River Hospice hosts a caregivers group Common Bonds developed to nurture caregivers on May 17th @ 2pm. Each day can be a challenge for the caregiver but you are not alone. All are welcome-meets every 3rd Monday at Villa Del Sol in Marshalltown in the 200 Hall Lounge.

Connections NEW Group- Connections an informal meet & eat group. Meets the last Monday of each month. May 31st 5:30 ˆ 6:30pm @ Iowa River Hospice Home-502 Plaza Heights Rd Marshalltown Enter through the bottom entrance(staff entrance). *Dinner to be provided. **This group is intended for those dealing with the recent loss of a loved one

Grief Healers Support Group Iowa River Hospice hosts a Grief Healers Support Group at Our NEW Location 502 Plaza Heights Rd on May 6th @ 1:00-2:00 pm. This group meets at the same time and place the first Thursday of each month. We are open to all individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one. Grief is a healthy and natural response to death. It is difficult to process. Come join us in our journey of healing. If questions call 753-7704.

Spousal Support Group Iowa River Hospice hosts a Spousal Support Group at Hyvee in Marshalltown on May 9th @ 5pm. This group meets at the same time and place the second Sunday of each month for a meal, support and socialization (Usually not intended for newly bereaved persons). If questions, call 753-7704.
