The Gladbrook United Methodist Women met in Fellowship Hall at noon on Wednesday, December 16, 2009 for their Christmas Luncheon. Twenty-five members and guests were served a delicious meal by Karen Pieper, Mary Appelgate and Avriel Koester. The Christmas meal was served on Christmas china with holiday decorated tables. The meal consisted of a Ribbon Salad, Cranberry Orange Glazed Chicken Breast on Rice, Christmas Green Beans, Strawberry Bread frosted with Strawberry Cream Cheese, Peppermint Ice Cream Dessert, hot tea and coffee. Before the meal we sang a special Christmas Table Grace to the tune of “Edelwiss”. President Rose Mary McKinney did not feel a business meeting was necessary. Maxine Schoel thanked the group for her birthday flowers and visit. She also mentioned that Kathy Keiser deserved many thanks for her 20-25 years of dedicated service for UMW by calling on members and delivering a birthday rememberance to those over 75 years old. Rose Mary was presented a special card for “all you did” by serving as UMW President for the past two years. Martha Gamble presented a very interesting program entitled “Who Nurtured You?” She gave each member a 2009 Holiday Song Book and an Advent-Christmas Calendar that explained the seasons, pictures and symbols. Before adjourning the group sang Christmas carols accompanied by Anita Elmore. This was the last meeting of 2009. We do not have anyone to serve as President or Vice-President for the coming year. Anita Elmore will continue as the Treasurer, Martha Gamble will be the new Secretary, and Barb Strohbehn will continue as the Sunshine Chairman. Barbara Strohbehn UMW Secretary
