Crayon Corner Learning Center is not just a preschool, but a daycare too. The committee for the new center has been out and about trying to promote the new building as well as raise funds for it. A question has come up with some of our conversations and we would like to clear it up. Crayon Corner in the past has been for preschool only, but over the last couple of years we have changed that and the new building will change that even more. Currently we have a 3 & 4 year old preschool, but these kids can stay before and after class which is considered extended learning. In essence extended learning is a daycare service which the young parents of the community need. Once the new building is built we will then be able to take care of all ages, infants thru school age. Current Department of Human Service (DHS) regulations are very restrictive and infants cannot be housed in the school facility. This new building will be built to comply with these regulations and will be used for daycare with the ability to run the preschool classes in the same building. As has previously been stated, this is a great joint project between the City of Gladbrook and the Gladbrook Reinbeck School where resources have been combined to provide a needed service to attract and maintain young families to our community. We are getting closer to our fund raising goal. Construction is well under way for the building itself but we want to be able to finish the entire project which will include playground equipment for the center as well as enhancements to the city park. We are planning a potato bar dinner for November 15th, watch for more details. The fund raising committee would appreciate your support of this project to provide a new daycare and preschool facility and to upgrade our City Park for future generations. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact any of the Board members or other community committee members of this project. Board Members are; Jamie Smock, Cynthia Eggers, Karen Eggers, Randy Sienknecht, Marcie Sienknecht, Jodi Betts, Brooke Mahr, Leslie Sager, Denise Smoldt, Beth Murty, or Cathy Westwater. Community committee members are; Brad Smoldt, Darin King, Mike Bearden, Scott Schmidt, and Mandy Gehring.
