Diabetic Shoe Fitting Clinic A Diabetic Shoe-Fitting Clinic will be held Friday, October 16, 1-3 p.m., at Covenant Clinic in Gladbrook. Please call for an appointment at (641) 473-2707.

Festival of Trees Start thinking about ideas for that special Christmas tree to be a part of the Festival of Trees. The Gladbrook Tree lighting will be on Tues., Nov. 24. Trees for the festival will need to be in place by Sun., Nov. 22. Garwin Fire & Ambulance Mock Car Accident Garwin Fire & Ambulance will be conducting a Mock Car Accident on October 21, 6:00 p.m. The “accident” will occur on the street by the Fire Station. Fire and Ambulance will be working together using the Jaws of Life to extricate victims. Any questions please call Tim Laffoon, Garwin Fire Chief, (641) 485-6771.

Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary The Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary will meet on Sat., Oct. 24th at 9:30 at Westbrook Acres. You will be making winter favors for the residents of the Iowa Veterans Home. Chairmen are Jill Baumeier and Jodi Betts.

Gladbrook Legion The Gladbrook Legion will meet at 6:30pm for a light lunch and then their regular meeting on Monday, October 19. Plans for the pancake breakfast will be on the agenda. Have you paid your dues?

Tama County Livestock & Fair Association The Tama County Livestock & Fair Association will hold the October Meeting at the Tama County Extension Office in Toledo, on MONDAY, OCTOBER 26th (Please note date change) at 7:00 pm (please note time) . This meeting is open to anyone interested in the Tama County Fair.

Library Coffee Time Stop in and join us every Friday afternoon at the Gladbrook Public Library at 2 p. m. for coffee and conversation. We might even discuss a book or two. Bring a friend and hopefully brighten your day and ours!! Pat & Karen

Legion Pancake Breakfast The Gladbrook Legion will be hosting their first pancake breakfast to open pheasant season on Sunday, November 1, serving from 7-1 at the Memorial Bldg. Proceeds will go to the Scholarship program. Support your community projects and enjoy a great breakfast.

GYW Halloween Party The Gladbrook Young Women will once again sponsor a community Halloween Party on Saturday morning October 31st, at the City Center in Gladbrook. The party will begin at 10:00 a.m., bring all your goblins and gouls to enjoy a movie, snacks, games and a haunted hallway. Parents are required to attend and stay and enjoy the fun with their goblins. Scouting For Food - Gladbrook/Lincoln Cities of Gladbrook and Lincoln: the Annual Scouting for Food Drive is Saturday, October 17. Place your non-perishable food items in a sack or box on your doorstep by 9:00 a.m. All food donations will be delivered directly to the Food Pantry. Contact Trudi Scott with questions (473-3139).

Scouting For Food - Garwin Local Boy Scout Troops will be collecting canned goods and non-perishable items on Saturday October 17th beginning at 9 AM. Notes will be placed on doors on Monday October 12 stating collection times as a reminder. These items will go for local food pantries and local families in need. The Garwin items will be turned into St. Boniface Catholic Church for distribution. Our local Scout district is TAMAHA which stands for Tama, Marshall, & Hardin Counties. We are one of the few districts that participate in the Scouting for Food collection. We have had good participation from the community through the years, we wish to thank everyone that has contributed and to those that will be contributing this year. Soup Supper Garwin Freedom Days Fundraising Committee is sponsoring a Soup Supper, Thursday, October 22, serving from 5 to 7 p.m., Garwin Shelter House. Free-will donation.

Tama Co. Republican Women The Tama County Republican Women will be meeting on Saturday, October 24th at the State Bank of Toledo Community Meeting Room. The meeting will start at 9:30 am. Speaker for the program will be Colonel Steve Altman from Johnston, Iowa. Altman has just returned from serving in Afghanistan. He has been in the National Guard for thirty years, is married and has two grown children, a boy and a girl, one a second Lieutenant in the Air Force and one a Mechanical Engineer. All Republicans are invited, men or women, who are interested in hearing the story from Altman. Republican women are requested to bring a friend. There is no charge.
