By Marcy Knaack At a special meeting of the Gladbrook City Council, Engineer Mike Bearden presented preliminary cost estimates, based on the City’s contribution of $260,000 plus interest and the city’s contribution with a zero interest loan from the USDA. The City has a loan with Lincoln Savings Bank, Reinbeck. If they were awarded the zero interest loan from the USDA they would pay off the loan to LSB and it would save them $65,000 of interest costs. The Gladbrook-Reinbeck Community School District is contributing $300,000 toward the project. The City has applied for a $50,000 Vision Iowa grant which would be used for playground equipment. The Tama County Board of Supervisors will award to any City in Tama County a grant of 10% up go a maximum of $10,000 to those communities who receive Vision Iowa funding. This would generate an additional $5,000. Currently the total project cost is $821,000. To date secured pledges and in-kind services of the project are in access of $120,000 in addition to the monies designated by the City and School District. A pay application of $38,000 to S L Baumeier was approved.
