LuVerne R. Flamme

LuVerne R. Flamme, age 86, died on Thursday, Aug 20, 2009 at the Sun Prairie Health Care Center. He was born July 26, 1923 in Gladbrook, Iowa to Raymond and Alma (Bruene) Flamme. He grew up on the family farm in Gladbrook, Iowa. He graduated from Gladbrook High school in 1940 and Iowa State College in 1950 after serving in the U.S. Army in W.W. II. He married Betty Jean Hogg on February 14, 1976. He retired from Oscar Mayer after 38 years as a Quality Assurance Supervisor in Davenport and Madison, Wisconsin. He loved the beauty of the outdoors and was an avid bird watcher. His hobbies were antiques and coin collecting. Vern belonged to the Gladbrook Masons chapter Olivet #436 AFAM for 50 years receiving his pin in 2000. He survived by his wife , Betty, 3 children, Gary(Susan Morand) Johannsen, Lyn (Charles Callender) Johannsen of Fitchburg, Wisconsin and Karen (Charles Acker) Johannsen of Fitchburg, Wisconsin. 4 step children, Deb (Ken)Tuschen of Rio, Wisconsin, Jackie (Roger)Ellingson of Hixton, Wisconsin, Paul (Eileen) Hogg of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, Jeff Hogg of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, 12 step grandchildren, Stacy, Tanya, Chad, Ryan, J.T., Miki, Justin, Jessica, Jordan, Tyler and 5 great children, Braxton, Ryely, Mariyah, Destiny and David. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Loren. Vern is survived by his special dogs, Angel and Gabriel. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug 24, 2009 at the Bashford United Methodist Church 329 North St in Madison, Wisconsin. Pastor T. Ed White presided. Burial was held at the Highland Memory Gardens in Cottage Grove, Wisconsin. The Tuschen-Newcomer Funeral Home Sun Prairie was in charge.
