CROP Walk The Tama County Northwest Ministerial Association is planning CROP Walk for Sun., Oct. 4th, 2 p.m. meeting at Peace Church. Walkers of all ages will walk the Gladbrook Bike Trail. Refreshments will be served by the Garwin Yoke. Donations can be left at any of the local churches or youth group members.

Bona Dea Chapter OES Bona Dea Chapter of the OES will meet at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, October 3. Casual. Committee: Shirley Crawford, Carol & Don Stansbury, Jean Wellman, Ellen & Sam Young.

Garwin Fire & Ambulance Mock Car Accident Garwin Fire & Ambulance will be conducting a Mock Car Accident on October 21, 6:00 p.m. The “accident” will occur on the street by the Fire Station. Spousal Support Group Iowa River Hospice hosts a Spousal Support Group at Hyvee in Marshalltown on Oct 11th @ 5pm. This group meets at the same time and place the second Sunday of each month for a meal, support and socialization (Usually not intended for newly bereaved persons). If questions, call 753-7704.

Crayon Corner Learning Center Fund Raiser Meal Crayon Corner Learning Center Fundraising Meal will be Sunday, October 4, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. Join us for a free will Soup, Hot Dogs & pie Meal.

Gladbrook Commercial Club The Gladbrook Commercial Club members will meet on Thurs., Oct. 8th, 6:30 A.M. at Gifts of Grace. G-R Superintendent Tim Kuehl will be our guest speaker. If you haven’t paid your dues please do so ASAP. Call Carolyn to make reservations at 473-2261.

Iowa River Hospice Common Bonds Iowa River Hospice hosts a caregivers group Common Bonds developed to nurture caregivers on Oct 19th @ 2pm. Each day can be a challenge for the caregiver but you are not alone. All are welcome-meets every 3rd Monday at Villa Del Sol in Marshalltown in the 200 Hall Lounge.

Garwin Freedom Days Spaghetti Suppers Garwin Freedom Days Fundraising Committee will sponsor Thursday night spaghetti suppers starting Thursday, September 10 thru the first Thursday of October, serving from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Garwin Shelter House at the park. This is a free-will offering.

Library Coffee Time Stop in and join us every Friday afternoon at the Gladbrook Public Library at 2 p. m. for coffee and conversation. We might even discuss a book or two. Bring a friend and hopefully brighten your day and ours!! Pat & Karen

Gladbrook Auxiliary The regular meeting of the Gladbrook Auxiliary will be Mon., Oct. 12th, 7 p.m. at the Memorial Building. Guest speaker for Education Month will be the new G-R Principal Garrick Teckenburg. Lets have a great turn out. Hostesses are Kathy Herink and Chris Hickman.

Gladbrook Fitness & Wellness Center Open House Gladbrook Fitness and Wellness Center will be having an open house on Sunday, Oct 11th from 1 - 4. We will have staff available for initial and refresher training on all of the equipment. There will also be a open swimming to the public during the Open House. Please come join us on the 11th.

Gladbrook Women’s Club The Gladbrook Women’s Club will hold their meeting, along with a style show, at the Chalet at 1:30 in Marshalltown on Oct. 8th. Car pools will be formed at the Methodist church at 12:50. The Board meeting will be on Oct. 5th at the Gifts of Grace at 8:30 a.m.

Olivet Lodge #436 A.F. & A.M. Olivet Lodge #436 A.F. & A.M. will meet Thursday, October 8th. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Please bring a dish to share. Meeting at 7:30 p.m.

Grundy Co. Conservation Board Chili Cook-Off The Grundy County Conservation Board is sponsoring the second annual ChiliCook Off Contest on Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the the Wolf CreekRecreation Area near Beaman. The contest will start at 5PM. There is no registration cost but contestants must pre-register to ensure that sufficient participants will be present to hold the event. The rules are simple. Contestants must be registered campers in the park that day. And the chili must be cooked over a fire. And pre-registration is required. Judging for this fun event will take place at 5:15 PM. Prizes will be awarded. If this sounds like fun to you, please call the Conservation Board offices at (319)345-2688 to pre-register.

Gladbrook-Lincoln Senior Citizens The Gladbrook-Lincoln Senior Citizens will meet on October 9th, for a NOON (12 o’clock) meal at Peace Church. We have the Women’s Club serving us, so please call Marcella Lemke 473-2924 for reservations by October 5th. Please bring your own table service.

Garwin Community Breakfast Sunday, October 4 from 8 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Garwin City Park Shelterhouse. There will be pancakes, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, toast, coffee and juice being served. There will be a free will offering. All proceeds go to the new popcorn stand. Served by the Garwin Revitalization Committee.

Jerry’s Barbershop Jerry’s Barbershop, Garwin will be closed October 6th thru October 10th.
