Larry Lott, 65, of Whitten, Iowa, died early Monday morning, September 21st, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 25th, at the Whitten Community Church. He will be laid to rest in the Eastlawn Memory Gardens in Eldora. Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell Family Funeral Home in Marshalltown. Born on July 28th, 1944, in Eldora, Iowa, he was the son of Harold and Mildred (Earhart) Lott. He was raised in Whitten and graduated from the Union-Whitten High School’s Class of 1962. Larry was employed at the Eldora Napa Parts Store for 28 years until his retirement in April of 2009. He loved Whitten- it was his home since birth. He served on city council, volunteer fire department and acting mayor when called upon. He played basketball for Union-Whitten and several AAU teams in Marshalltown. He was quite active in the Whitten Days activities- planning the tractor pulls and organizing. He especially loved the parades- driving his red Bugatti he and his father made from a kit. On March 21st, 1988, he was united in marriage to Eleanor (Hauschildt) at the Little Brown Church. Whitten was home all of their married lives. The couple also owned and operated Lott’s Woodshed in Whitten doing refinishing of furniture and antiques. Left to cherish his memory are Eleanor, his loving wife of 21 years, her children: Mikl (Valinda) Parsons of Ames and Shellee (Jeff) Jordebrek of Conrad, granddaughter Meredith Parsons at the University of Iowa and grandson Garret Jordebrek, his brothers Bill (Sharon) and Dale all of Whitten and sister Darlene (Jim) Riggs of Urbandale as well as nieces, nephews, the Hauschildt family and many friends. In death he has rejoined his parents and her children Russell Parsons and Kristine Parsons.
