Gladbrook, IA- Crayon Corner Learning Center today announced it has received $12,000 from the Monsanto Fund, a private foundation and the philanthropic arm of Monsanto Company, to fund the purchase of computers for the new learning center building project. “Crayon Corner Learning Center is pleased to team up with Monsanto Fund on this project,” said Brooke Mahr, Crayon Corner board member. “This grant will help keep the center, and the students, up to date with new technology.” The new center, scheduled to open June of 2010, will provide full time and part time daycare and preschool classes for children in the Gladbrook community. The computers purchased with this grant will be utilized for both operational use by staff and as classroom learning tools for the children. “Monsanto is committed to supporting the communities where our employees live,” said Travis Williamson, Beaman Purity Operations Lead. “The Monsanto Fund is supporting this project to strengthen early childhood education in the area, and keep local schools and communities competitive and attractive for recruiting employees and their families.” The Monsanto Fund is the philanthropic arm of the Monsanto Company. Incorporated in 1964, the Fund’s primary objective is to improve the lives of people by bridging the gap between their needs and their resources. The Monsanto Fund is focused on grant-making in four main areas: nutritional well-being through agriculture; science education, primarily on professional development for teacher; healthy environment, which includes conservation, protection of biodiversity, clean water and restoration of wildlife habitat; and improving the quality of life in communities where Monsanto employees live and work.
