Margery Ann "Marge" Goos

Margery Ann “Marge” Goos, age 84, of Lincoln, IA., died Thursday, September 10, 2009 at Westbrook Acres Nursing Home in Gladbrook, IA. Funeral services and a celebration of her life was Monday, September 14, 2009 at Salem Church in Lincoln, with Rev. Wade Ditty officiating. Cremation rites will follow the service with a private family interment at Maple Hill Cemetery at a later date. A memorial fund to honor Marge has been established. Online condolences may be sent to the family at vogelfuneralhomes.com . Arrangements were entrusted to Goettsch Funeral Home in Gladbrook. Margery was born August 3, 1925 to William J. and Anna (Kroeger) Kienzle in Spring Creek Township. She graduated from the Gladbrook High School class of 1942 and on October 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to Vernon Goos at the Peace Church in Gladbrook. The couple farmed all their married lives in the Lincoln area. Marge was a homemaker and wonderful baker. She was well known in the Lincoln area for her cinnamon rolls and biscuits. She was also an accomplished seamstress and upholsterer. Marge enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren. She liked to watch soap operas and crime shows on television, and in her later years she enjoyed painting ceramics and woodworking projects. Marge is survived by her 3 children, Patricia (Dale) Essick of Ottumwa, Kathy (Dennis) Whited of Iowa City, Jeffrey (Sheryl) Goos of Rural Tama; nine grandchildren, Kerry (Lori) Huston of Ottumwa, Kris (Kevin) Gipson of Albany, MO, Amy (Ryan) Wilson of Lenox, Shonna (Jeremy) Negus of Iowa City, Brent (Melissa) Whited of Oak Park, IL, Sara (Jeremiah) Murry of Iowa City, Bailey Goos of Ames, A J Goos of Tama, Todd (Cathy) Essick of Ladora; five great grandchildren; three brothers, Harold (Rose) Kienzle of Cedar Falls, George (Nancy) Kienzle of Iowa City, and Dick (Barb) Kienzle of Duluth, MN. Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon in May of 2002, and brother, William Kienzle. A special thank you to Marge’s neighbors, Annie and Greg Stocker, Jamie Laughlin, Brittany Allen, Jo Wentzien, and Elmer Bern, and to Carol Ellis, and a host of her Lincoln Friends who provided such loving care and assistance to her.
