by Joyce Wiese The Tama County Board of Supervisors met Tuesday morning with all three supervisors present. Tama County Engineeer Lyle Brehm said the road crew is presently working west of Vining. They will continue to do blading and hauling rock where necessary. Brehm also reminded supervisors of the road vacation hearings to be held at 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors room. Public is welcome. Notices have been sent out to all land owners adjoining the road the hearing is for. Susan Jones was present with an insurance report showing the premium for insurance for the 2009-2010 fiscal year will be $137,000 less than last year. Sheriff Dennis Kucera was present with the request of a resolution allowing the Sheriff’s office to charge an additional fee of $50.00 for the cancellation of a Sheriff’s sale. Kucera stated many times when a sheriff’s sale is made it is cancelled at the last minute. His department still has all the paper work and the expense of preparing for a sheriff’s sale when it be cancelled or not. The resolution passed. Last week an amendment to the budget was made but the appropriations of the money to be transferred was not made. Therefore, the Board of Supervisors approved the appropriations to department budgets as follows: Supervisors $40,312, Economic Development $22,799, Veterans Affairs $10,000, Conservation $23,911, Public Health $82,815, and Data Processing $1,570 for a total of $181,407.00. Carolyn Dolezal with the Tama-Toledo Chamber of Commerce ask to place a planter on the Courthouse lawn where the telephone booth used to be. Dolezal stated this would be a three foot by four foot stained cement flower stand. The chamber would take care of any maintenance and the planting of flowers and watering them. Supervisors agreed this would be a nice asset to the courthouse lawn. Tami Wise from the Central Point of Coordination office brought two contracts for signatures between Genesis Development, Inc. and Tama County. This would be for services being done up to July 1, 2009 when the next fiscal year starts. It is hoped Genesis will have a contract ready in June for the following year. Genesis will be contracting for a lease for services at the Tama County Home known as Country Living Care Facility. Claims for the past week came to $144,603.47.
