New Board Members Needed Crayon Corner Learning Center is looking for three new board members for the upcoming school year starting in June 2009.  The new board members will replace three outgoing members.  The board term is a commitment of two years.  If you are interested in being a board member or want more information, please contact Cynthia Eggers at 641-473-3213. 

Community Good Friday Choir Practice Community Good Friday choir practices will be Mar. 25 & Apr. 1 from 6-7 pm at Peace Church. All are welcome to sing!. Contact Sue Koster, 473-2900, for more information. The service will be at Chapel Church April 10 at 7:30 pm.

Corn Carnival Fundraiser The Gladbrook Corn Carnival dinner will be held on Sun., March 22nd, from 11-1 p.m. at the Gladbrook Memorial Building. Please mark your calendars.

Gladbrook-Lincoln Senior Citizens The Gladbrook-Lincoln Senior Citizens will meet March 13th at the Gladbrook Methodist Church. This will be a Noon meal. I will need reservations by March 9th. Please call Marcella Lemke at 473-2924. Please bring your own table service.

Gladbrook Women’s Club The Gladbrook Women’s club board meeting will be held at the Gifts of Grace at 8:30 on March 9th. The general meeting will be held at the Peace Church on March 12th at 1:30.

Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary The Gladbrook Jr. Auxiliary will meet on Sat., March 7th at 9:30 at Westbrook Acres. The Juniors will make May favors for the residents of the Iowa Veterans Home. Chairmen and lunch committee are Joan King, Linda Lohse and Molly Dahms.

Gladbrook Legion & Auxiliary The Gladbrook Legion & Auxiliary will celebrate the birthday of the American Legion at their March 9th potluck at 6:30. The program will be Keith Lambertsen showing his accordian collection and sharing his musical talents. Please bring items for the Shower of Gifts for the veterans at the Iowa Veterans Home. Chairmen are Tricia Steen, Theresa Theis, and Lori Sanderson.

Maple Hill Cemetery Association The Maple Hill Cemetery Assoc. will meet Tuesday, March 10, 1:30 p.m., at Schade’s.

Humane Society annual meeting set March 16 Tama County Humane Society will hold it’s annual meeting Monday, March 16, 5:30 p.m. at the Tama Civic Center, 305 Siegel St. Memberships may be renewed or purchased at the door: individual $10; family $20; small business $40. Members will receive an update on the shelter project and elect directors.

Tornado Spotter training scheduled for Tama County Tama County Tornado Spotter, April 1, 2009, Wednesday 7:00 PM - 9:00 p.m., Reinig- Toledo Civic Center, 1007 S Prospect Dr, Toledo, IA. Door prizes to give away! Hope to see a large crowd this year!

Open Gym There will be an Open Gym in Gladbrook in the Middle School Gym on Saturdays from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Come enjoy the fun.

Easter Bunny is Coming to Town Easter Bunny will be hiding eggs for all kids ages 0 to 4th grade on April 11th, 10:30a.m. at the Gladbrook City Park. Movie at the City Center to follow. Rain location at City Center.

Tama County Fair Association Meeting The Tama Co. Fair Association will hold it’s March meeting on Tuesday, March 10th at 7:00 pm at the Tama Co. Extension Office in Toledo. Common Bonds Iowa River Hospice hosts a caregivers group Common Bonds developed to nurture caregivers on March 16th @ 2pm. Each day can be a challenge for the caregiver but you are not alone. All are welcome-meets every 3rd Monday at Villa Del Sol in Marshalltown in the 200 Hall Lounge.

Tama County Democratic Party The Tama County Democratic Party will hold its Off-year Meeting on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at the Tama Civic Center, 305 Siegel St in Tama. There will be a potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. Following the supper all Democrats are invited to participate in a mini retreat which will help set the direction of the party over the next two years. Participants will be divided into groups to brainstorm on topics on topics like ‘Keeping volunteers involved’ and ‘Candidates for office’. There will be four to six stations and each group will get a chance to brainstorm at each station. Input from all Democrats in Tama County is welcome. The Off-year Meeting is as much about fellowship as it is about business. While it is important to set the direction of the party, it is just as important to meet and socialize with other Democrats. Both activities will help build a strong party. This is a great time to get involved without the pressures of an election year.

Spousal Support Group Iowa River Hospice hosts a Spousal Support Group at Hyvee in Marshalltown on March 8th @ 5pm. This group meets at the same time and place the second Sunday of each month for a meal, support and socialization (Usually not intended for newly bereaved persons). If questions, call 753-7704. Grief Healers Support Group Iowa River Hospice hosts a Grief Healers Support Group at Iowa River Hospice 206 W Church St on March 5th @ 1:00-2:00 pm. This group meets at the same time and place the first Thursday of each month. We are open to all individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one. Grief is a healthy and natural response to death. It is difficult to process. Come join us in our journey of healing. If questions call 753-7704.

Spaghetti Dinner Peace Church Sr. YF will host a spaghetti dinner on Sunday, March 8, serving from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Peace Church.
